SMASH - Summer Math & Science Honors Academy
SMASH is:
- a three-year summer math and science enrichment program
- for high achieving, low-income high-school students of color from the Bay Area to excel in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM)
- help students achieve success in high school now and prepares them for future achievement in higher education
Our goal is to help SMASH students be admitted to top-tier colleges and universities where they can continue their STEM studies.
SMASH students spend five weeks each summer in UC Berkeley dorms while they are immersed in rigorous classes. They also receive year-round support to stay on track for academic success.
Each year LPFI selects approximately 25 students to participate in SMASH. Applications are due every year in February.
