SMASH Parent Program
Parents a key element of our SMASH program community. One hundred percent of students have at least one parent/guardian participating in monthly parent meetings. These sessions provide key information and skills development to help parents more effectively support their student’s asipirations, advocate for them at school, and help them plan for their child’s education.
Monthly SMASH workshops provide information, tools and knowledge for parents. Following are topics/areas of focus of either past workshops or sessions that we plan to execute during the upcoming academic school year:
- Navigating the educational system of the U.S.
- College readiness and awareness
- College admissions requirements
- Financial aid guidance
- Searching for scholarships
- How to select a college /university that is the right fit
- Community building
- Self-empowerment, advocacy, and leadership
